ok, well this is incomplete the Mask secton hasent been done, but im bussy and this has been sitting unfinished on my macheine for over a week now, so im going to upload it anyways. i hope it helps someone, I will do the last secton in the next few days!

ok I lied and its now nearly a year since I uploaded this, I almost definitely don't have the original file, so if you really want to make a Mask preloader look at the AS2.0 tutorial and apply it to this one, it should be quite simple.

Hi, there, I have a warning message when testing... it's CS5. Message: Your content will not stream. Runtime Shared Library (RSL) preloading will require all of your content to download befor the first frame will play. To prevent this you can change the RSL Library Settings in the Advanced ActionScript 3.0 setting dialog wich can be raised from the Publish Settings dialog.
The RSL being preloaded are: text—ayout_1.0.0.595.swz for TLF Text

If I don't include TLF text the message won't show up (this was suposed to say "loading" or "cargando" depending on the choosen language ;) ... I don`t undestood preety clear why?.

I've just tried this tutorial out on CS5 and I'm getting the same error; I'll have to look into this one. I'll have a resolution up soon.

Cheers for notifying me.

(on a side not it should work fine on all previous versions of flash w/ AS3)

I'm Glad you think so, I'm always worried that i'm over-complicating things because I try to get enough information in my tutorials for people of all programming skill-levels.

If your interested in learning flash, their are a few resources (if its not how you found this tutorial) over at #FLAnimate.

I'm glad I could help (btw you have a beautiful gallery).

I think that with a program as complex and limitless as Flash, the more specific, the better! A huge problem with the other tutorials I was reading was that the authors would leave out really critical steps and pieces of code that a beginner like me would never, ever think of. (I'm sure this is because it's so natural to them though.)

I've checked out #FLAnimate briefly before in the past, but I'll definitely go there more in the future as I start to play around a bit more.

Thanks again! >w<

ok my bad^^ your totally right about that being As2, apoligies, this should work:

stop();

function onIntroClick(evt:MouseEvent):void {
    gotoAndPlay(2);
}

play_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onIntroClick);

I made you some Fla's anyhow:

CS4 Example
CS3 Example

hope this helps ^^

move you animation so its starts on frame 3 and not frame 2, on frame 2 make your play button and give it the instance name play_btn

Right click on the 2nd frame of your animation in the timeline and go Actions, in there put:

stop();

play_btn.onRelease = function(){
    this.gotoAndPlay(2);
}

This should work ^^

ok, let me think....

this simplest way to do what you wanna do is replace the line

' loadbar_mc.scaleX = percent/100; '

with

your_circle_animation_mc.gotoAndStop(percent);

and make a movieclip on the stage called

your_circle_animation_mc

inside it, have 100 frames of your circle going round or w/e else you want to do. its not a good code soloution, but its eaisiest to explan, and you can you this methord to have simple animations for preloader graphics etc, just remember, keep it simple, graphics take time to load ;)

any problems with this note me, i might even make you an example :O
